Perfect Pretzels: A Gluten-Free Guide
My salt addiction can’t be cured. Trust me, I spent a long time trying, but have since admitted defeat. Finding a delicious, salty, gluten-free snack wasn’t always easy. However, within the last few years, I have found the most amazing gluten-free soft pretzels and delicious crunchy pretzels that my family now requests over the traditional varieties. I’ve even created a to-die-for seasoned pretzel recipe that my friends always request when I go to picnics. You’re in the right place today because I’m going to share. Please note that these are NOT affiliate links–just products I love.
Original soft pretzels from Tonya’s Gluten-free kitchen are found in the freezer section of the grocery store. They’re easy to make; just sprinkle with water and the salt from an enclosed packet and microwave or bake in the oven. Baked is better, but if you want to save some time, this snack is tasty when heated in the microwave as well. The price range varies widely at my local grocery stores and can be anywhere from 6.99 (Giant) to 10.99 (Wegman’s) for the box of 4 pretzels. While they are a little pricey, if you’re a soft pretzel fan, they’re worth it.
I am arguably the world’s biggest seasoned pretzel fan, and combining my favorite gluten-free pretzels with the recipe below has been a success. I’m not claiming this is a healthy snack, but it is perfect for those salty snack cravings. Below you’ll find a recipe that I’ve developed over the years and that my family and friends love. Hopefully, you’ll try it with the same results. Enjoy!
Gluten-Free Seasoned Pretzels

minutesThese amazing seasoned pretzels are easy to make and delicious. I always use Snyder’s gluten-free pretzels because they’re my family’s favorite, but you can obviously choice any brand. Please note, if you’d like to make these dairy free, you’ll have to eliminate the ranch seasoning packet. I add a little more dill and garlic when I do that. Finally, this recipe calls for 2 8 oz. bags, and I tend to make enough to share. If you prefer a smaller amount, just cut the recipe in half.
Ingredients
2 8 oz. bags of Snyder’s Gluten-Free Mini Pretzels
3/4 cups of oil (vegetable or canola) I have used olive oil but prefer the first 2 choices for this recipe.
2 TBSP. dill
2 TBSP. garlic salt
1 TBSP. garlic powder
1 TBSP. everything bagel seasoning
1/2 packet (1/2 oz.) of Hidden Valley Ranch seasoning (when I need to make these dairy free, I eliminate this ingredient. The taste is lighter, but still good)
Directions
- Mix the oil and all seasonings in a large bowl.
- Add the pretzels to the liquid, mixing the ingredients together several times while adding the pretzels.
- Preheat the oven to 300 degrees.
- Spread the pretzels in a thin layer on a cookie sheet and bake for 15 minutes.
- Remove pretzels from oven and let cool.
