About Me

Wife, mom of three children and an Australian shepherd, and middle school English teacher are just a few of my favorite roles. They each work well with my personal mission–to spread kindness and help others. My name is Victoria Krout.

Loving my life is important; reaching my goals is important; spending time with loved ones is important; yet, the one challenge that sometimes gets in the way of all of that is my fourth role, the one that I didn’t choose, but have lived with for over three decades. I am a patient with 4 autoimmune diseases, and my life is sometimes filled with unwanted surprises that either stop me in my tracks or at least make me rest for a while…and that’s what brings me here with you. A long-time goal has been to share my story with those who may find comfort and support through commonalities. If you or someone you love lives with one or more autoimmune diseases, click here to go to my welcome page and learn more about My Autoimmune Experiment.

So what does a chronically ill wife, mom, teacher do for fun? Well, when I’m not checking my blood sugar, injecting immunosupressants, or searching for new gluten-free foods, I love doing any family-fun activities. Our children are in their twenties now, and the years have passed too quickly, so my husband and I grab whatever time we can with them. We’ve spent a lot of time exploring Boston and neighboring areas where they now live. I love the excitement of the city as well as the charming and quaint beach towns of New England.

I also love the outdoors. Whether I am hiking, watching an athletic event, or reading on my deck, sunshine and fresh air bring me peacefulness. Sometimes calm days are hard to find, but a step outside is always a step in the right direction, and walking through the door is even better when Winston, my dog, tags along.
